User Rating: 8.3 | God Hand PS2
Good - hilarous atmosphere, - insane special moves, - motion capture. - relatively long game - hard.

Bad - Gene runs like an hyperactive retarded although every other move is motion captured... - Bland level design. - Storyline is boring.

God Hand is a very simple, very crude and humoristic game. The story is almost non-existant, wich means that your character Gene is kind of given a reason to beat the crap out of everybody, and thats about what you should expect from it.

Appart from the story, what stands out the mostly is the actual gameplay. You have a hundred-ish moves to learn, all of them are very cool to use, since you'll most likely use the moves that fits your personnal fighting style and stick with them. You can map these moves on any buttons you want, thus creating your very own combos, wich is a devastating and wonderful idea. The game itself is insanely hard and not forgiving, just as you saw in DMC3 and NG. Wich is not always bad, since when you get your face pummeled, you actually know that you could have done something better.

As you get better, and just start to get the upper hand on enemies, your '' Level '' metter will rise, making them more likely to dodge and block your attacks and such, wich is pretty neat, but kind of hard to digest sometimes, since what you might need is a little hand, and they just make the whole thing heavier. But hey, i guess it makes you better at it.

The soundtrack is hilarous. From surf-rock to elvis-like songs, you'll have a hard time not laughing during the whole game, since nothing is to be taken seriously. The enemies sounds pretty stupid, but good-stupid. Gene trash talk all the time, wich reminds us of Dante.

Graphically, the game is disapointing. The levels are insanely bland and lifeless, the enemies arent really cool looking either, but the highlights really are the character's animations and your main char's model. Every single move has been motion captured wich makes moves like Sabats, or round house kicks look very impressive and powerful.

Overall, if you can get passed the bland level design, and willing to get your face hammered hard, and REAL hard, but also willing to hammer their faces back HARDER, this game is for you.
