This is one the most boring games ever. Only for hardcore fans of the genre.

User Rating: 5 | Glass no Bara PS2
I've been playing European version of this game recently... I should agree in many points with the previous reviewer. In my opinion the game is only for hardcore gamers who adore quest genre.
Glass Rose is abysmal in many aspects. The plot couldn't have been more boring, dialogs are terrible (your protagonist always asks again what was just said by his interlocutor) and written for kids. Not to say voice acting is awful and returns you to the middle 90s with its "sweet" Resident Evil voice work (though I'm a big fan of RE) and many other examples of how one shouldn't dub videogames. Actors (actors?) just read the text, not trying to expose any emotions... I'll remind it's actual for the PAL-version, don't know about Japanese.

Unfortunately graphics is not that good either. The game uses technology similar to that we saw in RE, Onimusha, Martian Gothic... its problem is in its muddy backgrounds (I have a feeling they are made in 320-240 px), character models' textures look dim as well, while modelled well enough. + It seems that game doesn't use any kind of antialiasing so all models look notched. On the other hand we have many CG-movies, though their quality leave much to be desired.

Music is soothing and pleasant but not diversified - looks like during dialogues (most of the time you will spend speaking with someone) only one track plays.

Game introduces two difficulty levels: one helps you to find right things to interact, playing on another you'll be left solving the mystery of the mansion all by yourself, which is very hard in this particular game because of its innovative yet unfinished dialogue system.
It's simply like this:
every time somebody speaks to you his speech appears on the screen. In order to inquire about something you have to highlight (left stick) the word (or phrase) you are interested in. Not only it's hard to divine what words game wants from you (technically this is exactly what you'll be forced to do), but any mistake (for instance, unintentional capturing comma-stop with desired word) will develop into something like "I don't know what you are talking about" from your company, which is pretty lame.

This product feels low budget in every aspect, but the overall quality is not that bad. Some details like cursor (really cute), minute diary, saving system (you can save wherever you want) make the game more lively. And still for me it's very boring... I tried to make myself play it more than 2 hours (yes, I confess - my experience is only 2 hours), but it felt like a torture and finally I surrendered.

My conclusion: if you are not into long talking adventures, I wouldn't recommend you this game for buying or even renting...
