This game isn't so much BAD, or poorly made, it is just BORING.

User Rating: 3.5 | Ghostbusters NES
Okay; I loved the Ghostbusters movie; so I thought I would check out the game, hoping to bust some ghosts, good ole' fun. What I got was not necessarily a HORRIBLE game, but a very... dull game. You see; you start off at the title screen and a rather well-made 8-bit rendition of the Ghostbusters theme. At first; it looks pretty cool!

So then you click start... And you see a bunch of gray squares and the Ghostbusters logo. APPARENTLY... You play as the Ghostbusters logo for this part of the game. WHY you don't DRIVE around the city for this part I don't quite know. But anyways; there are a few VERY gray buildings scattered about; these include a shop, gas station, Ghostbusters HQ, and a boss building which you can't yet enter. You have NO HINT what to do.

But you are supposed to go to the shop, and buy a bunch of stuff with no hints, again, as to what you NEED to buy. I've had to reset the game many times because of this. THEN you wait around doing nothing as the Ghostbuster theme loops OVER and OVER until a building shines red.

Red means Ghost attack! Oh yeah! Here comes the game! So we think. Now we drive the logo to the building, and now you are in the driving portion of the game. Here you dodge drunk drivers, and hope you don't run out of gas. Yes. You have to stock up on GAS in this game. Very tedious. But anyways; let's assume you get by. NOW you fight ghosts! You set a trap down; and now you gotta catch them! The controls... ARE VERY ODD. But yeah; the basic rule is don't let the beams touch; and drag the ghost into the trap. Every ghost caught gets you money. YOU NEED MONEY in order to get far in the game. Because you need items; although you can only carry four for some reason...

Okay; so that cycle just listed? Yeah. You do that. Then you do it again. And again. And again. And again. FOR A VERY LONG TIME. Anyways; an hour or so later; the boss building will FINALLY let you in!

Now you must climb steps. I never got past this part. BECAUSE YOU ARE EXPECTED TO CLIMB a twenty-something storied building, while attacked by ghosts, and you walk by tapping A. It's ridiculously hard.

So yeah. The gameplay gets a 2/10. Horrible.

Graphics? There is a LOT of gray. All Ghostbusters look the same. Car looks cool I guess. Ghosts are VERY generic. Not HORRIBLE; but there are much better graphics possible on the NES. 5/10

SOUND? Ghostbusters theme. Sounds cool at first. BUT YOU WILL HEAR IT LOOP THIRTY TIMES IN ONE PLAYING SESSION. There are NO other songs. It is horrible! Sound effects are... okay. 2/10

OVERALL: 3.5/10. Avoid like the plague. If you want a Ghostbusters game, play the new one or Ghostbusters for Genesis. Seriously; this is the bottom of the barrel for movie-to-game adaptions. Well; maybe next to ET.
