Great Throwback Game to Childhood

User Rating: 8.5 | Ghostbusters: The Video Game PS3
This game is by far one of the best movie/TV movies turned into a game that I've ever played. In a very smart move, Atari does not allow you to play as any of the main Ghostbusters, but you play as a new hire and have no spoken dialogue whatsoever. The characters from the movie and TV show are all there, voiced by the same actors and written by the same creators of the original Ghostbusters movies. The authenticity of that move makes for a more enjoyable game.

The basic premise of the game centres around the plot from the first movie and while it is short, I still found myself challenged by certain sections. Though I should warn, I'm not a great 'shooter' gamer, so that could play a part in that assessment. The camera angles are third-person shooter and there is no auto lock-on button, which I found challenging.

The Easter Eggs and trophy/achievement parts of the game were a lot of fun and very creative. I also thought the dialogue from the characters, even during game play was realistic. Whenever I accidentally shot one of the Ghostbusters, there would always be a quick sarcastic comment about not shooting them. I also loved that at different points of the game, the player is paired off with one of the main characters, so there is something for everyone.

If you were ever a fan of the cartoon or movie, then this should not be a question of whether or not you should get this game: you should. Now, it's got to be in the lower range of price, I paid full price, and if I had to do again, probably wouldn't have shelled that much out. But if you loved the movies and the cartoons, then this game is truly a must-have.
