User Rating: 9 | Ghost Master (2003) PC
Imagine the Sims meet Ghostbusters. The concept behind this game is pretty original. You control various ghosts and use their powers to scare off mortals. Sounds easy right? The first couple of levels are great for getting used to the controls, after that different levels present new challenges that may require specific scare tactics to reach certain objectives.
The overall feel of the game is something along the lines of a slightly dated 80's or 90's campy horror flick, and there are PLENTY of movie references thrown in for us pop-culture junkies. The score for this game was absolutely perfect accompaniment.
There are, of course, a few downsides. It's sometimes difficult to maneuver the camera around to where you want it. I would have much preferred a "walls down" mode like in the Sims. Also, sometimes it just gets boring waiting for certain conditions to be met in order to complete an goal. I can't tell you how often I would just find myself sitting there, waiting on a mortal to walk into a certain area, or waiting on my ghost's spectral meter's to re-charge.
Overall however, this is one of my favorite games on the PC. I would have loved to have seen it migrate over to other platforms.
