Getting More Out Of Your Xbox 360

Netflix + Zune Music

The Xbox 360 is a powerful machine, and many of its features might slip by unnoticed. Netflix video streaming is one of the best non-gaming-related features. You'll need an existing Netflix account (or you can purchase a new one) and a Gold Membership on Xbox Live. Once you have both, you must download the Netflix application for your Xbox 360 and retrieve an activation code. Then, just enter your activation code at Netflix.com/activate, and you'll be able to watch all of Netflix's online content via the Xbox 360.

Microsoft also brought the Zune Music pass to Xbox Live Gold members. The music service presents quite a bargain to heavy music purchasers. For $14.99 a month, the service lets you access millions of songs anytime you want. On top of that, you get to keep 10 tracks a month, even if you leave the service.

High-Definition Video & Audio

We Recommend: A good HDTV and HDMI cable, and a good surround-sound stereo setup

Here's Why: The Xbox 360 is a console for the high definition generation, as such it's best enjoyed with an HDTV. You can find recommendations for HDTVs at CNET, but we also recommend you kit yourself out for HDMI for the best image quality by picking up a simple $5 cable from an online retailer like Newegg or Monoprice. Surround sound is also a must for the Xbox 360, as most games encode Dolby Digital on the fly. You can find recommendations for surround sound and home theater setups at CNET.com.
