Geometry Wars is a fun and addicting game that you'll keep playing again and again.
The gameplay is simple. You control a ship with the left analog stick in a space atmosphere. These colored shaped objects then come out of corners and float around everywhere. Some even follow you. You then use the right analog stick to point in the direction to use your ammo to fire at these objects. You also have 3 bombs to get rid of almost everything when things get real crazy. Simple,yet very addicting.
At first,it's very easy. Only a few objects appear and you can easily fire at them and destroy them. However,quickly more and more of these objects come out as you gain points and as time passes. Sometimes long lines of objects come out at once,and the area can be VERY crowded with all sorts of geometry shaped objects. Sometimes it's so crowded that you have no where to go sometimes,but you can always make a clear path by just firing at a certain spot. You must do it quickly though,as these objects move faster and faster as you progress.
The games colors are superb. Firing at an object causes it to explode into bits,which looks cool. Better yet,the black holes that appear as red circles shoot out many different colors when you fire at them,like fireworks. If you have an HDTV,these colors will look vivid and bright. Even if you don't have HD,it'll still look great. The games sound is also amazing. The music that plays in the background really goes with all the action that goes on. The best sound effect is when there are many objects in the area and you destroy many at a time. This sometimes causes a big explosion to be heard,which sounds totally awesome. Each weapon you get also sounds different,and there are many other sound effects throughout the game.
As the game progresses,you're bound to lose lives and use your bombs with all the action going on. To help,the game gives you an extra life when you get 75,000 points. You also get another bomb when you get 100,000 points. This repeats,so it's nice to know that you're not stuck with the things you start with. You also get different weapons,but I've only seen three different types. You start with a standard weapon,but your weapon changes everytime you get 10,000 points. The two other weapons are a rapidly-firing weapon and another weapon with bigger ammo. But it just flip-flops everytime you get 10,000 points,so it would of been nice to see other ammo.
For only 400 points,Geometry Wars is a great game that I recommend to anyone with a Xbox 360. It's very addicting,cause you want to keep coming back to see what score you'll get and how long you can survive all the madness of geometry. I say spend those points on this game now if you haven't already.
