Geometry Wars Retro Evolved first came out on the Xbox Live Arcade at the Xbox 360's launch. It was an instant hit and became the first "gotta play it" XBLA games. And 3 years later, those darn people at Bizzare Creations have done it again with Geometry Wars 2! GW2 improves the game in just about every way you can imagine. There are several new modes that were inspired by the original Retro Evolved's achievements and offers a brand new multiplayer opiton (which unfortunately is offline only.) When you play the game for the first time. You have to play a couple rounds of each mode to unlock the next one. The first new mode is Deadline. This is basically Evolved mode with a three minute time limit. You do have unlimited lives, but your really trying to get your multiplier (which can now increase forever) to get an even higher score! Pacifism mode tries to make you survive as long as possible without shooting. With your guns disabled, the only way to kill enemies is to fly through little gate-like objects which explode and kill any nearby enemies. But beware that if you touch either end of the gate, you die. The Evolved mode remains the same as in the previous installments with the only new feature being a remix of the (now) classic Geometry Wars theme song. King mode forces you only shoot inside small circles which close after a few seconds and Sequence mode gives you 20 levels to beat with different enemies! Each mode features its own great song too! The more intense modes feature high energy beats while the slower modes like Pacifism work with quieter melodies. All in all, if you like GAMES in general. You owe it to yourself to get Geometry Wars 2!
