***** and Benkei

User Rating: 7 | Genji: Dawn of the Samurai PS2

Great game based on feudal Japan mixed with mythology.

You can play as two different characters, one is the main character (the fast one) and the sub character (The Tank), you can actually switch between them as you like even in the final battle.

The plot is good, there's not a real complain about it.

Graphics are very good, all scenarios, enemies, bosses, everything is greatly detailed, visuals are the strong point of the game along with the terrific combat system.

It's basically a beat-em up, but timing your attacks to parry those of the foes is what makes it different, to do this you collect this "Amahagane" stones which give you the power to slow down time and see through the enemies movements.in order to counter their attacks.

Gameplay is very fun, controls are neat and very responsive, sometimes enemy AI may lack, and some other tomes IA gets a bit tricky, but nothing that bad to spoil the gameplay,as I say, it has neat and responsive game controls.

The Soundtrack does a good job keeping you interested in whats going on and on whats going to happen, it fits the plot, places and helps with the overall ambience, in fact, some of the tracks are worth listening to.

For the bad part of it...well it is in fact a short game, after beating it, you can replay it with some extras and unlock certain stuff, and maybe collect objects you may have missed during your first walkthrough, so yes...it has replay value, but again, this game is short, its best a rental unless youre a feudal japanese fan, so you'll probably want it in your collection.

It deserves a try, its worth a play.

*Fun Fact: At the Review Deck, I wrote the two playable characters names, for some reason gamespot censored the main character name...What does it mean?
