Genre: Romance of the Three Kingdoms - NOT a Fantasy Turn-Based Strategy. The complicated system drains the all fun.

The reviews I checked referred to this as a turn-based strategy. Considering I've played a long list of those, I decided to check it out. I managed to get it for a few bucks less than the regular price so I figured, what the heck? Couldn't be that bad, could it? ...I was wrong.

Games like Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Nobunaga's Ambition infuriate me with their level of complexity that the joy of the game is overwhelmed with the feeling of taxing homework. I had to spend a good ten minutes reading the guide before I could even figure out exactly what was going on. Further still, having to refer to it every five minutes because I forgot what the obscure abbreviations for some of the commands were.

Further still, there was no tutorial! How do you make a game like this and -not- give a tutorial?!

The combat sequence was enjoyable...for the first fifteen seconds. That's when I realize I've seen the same style of battle on flash games on free sites. Some are actually intricate enough to actually have stories and customized units. With that available, why pay for this game? Save your sanity. Just go play Final Fantasy Tactics for the twentieth time and sigh with relief that good games still exist.

HOWEVER! The reason I gave it a 4 was because it's still possible for someone out there to enjoy it. I mean, RotTK keeps making games, so apparently there's still a market for it. If you're in to that genre, go after it. If not, stay far away.

Don't believe the genre posted for this game...it's a lie...
