Waste of time...a lot of time.

Just for a reference point I think Disgaea is the best Strategy RPG out there. So when I saw this from the same company I jumped on it.

The game intially has a promise and intriguing if not fragmented storyline. However, once the game starts the flaws start coming out.

The maps are fairly large and can contain multiple warring factions to fight or ally with (one of the things I did like about the game) however the maps weren't very terrain like with more of a board game style and moving across them could take forever. Also the map display isn't the greatest so you can forget and misplace characters easily.

So now you moved you characters (expect that one you forgot cause the turns take forever...this will be a recurring theme) and its time for a battle.

The battles aren't the one on one's you'd expect. Instead, its general vs general each with a small army (depending of if you have any casualties from precious battles). Again tell me this concept doesn't sound great - you can't. But they found a way. The battlefield is little more than a hallway, occasionally with rocks in the way to make things oh so challenging. Now you have basically no control over your army. You can set a formation and set them to different modes (attack, defense) but ultimately they do whatever comes into their heads - no matter how dumb (and they can be oh so dumb). Occasionally your general can cast different spells/attacks and this can turn the tide of the battle and make you feel like your role WAS important, but this occurs once for every ten minutes of watching these sublutonic follies bump heads.

If you haven't bought this yet don't, I hear rumor that Disgaea will be ported to PSP.
