Gears of War is the most highly addictive and enjoyable action game to grace the videogaming industry.

This is a game which celebrates violence and gore like no other game since Mortal Kombat. Cutting apart your enemies with the Chainsaw is gruesomely satisfying and never gets boring. Not even after thousands of times doing it.

The game's story revolves around Marcus Fenix; a jailed soldier who once disobeyed orders. As Fenix, you are tasked to help Alpha and Delta squad in detonating the lightmass bomb and stopping the relentless march of the Locust.

Gears of War's primary focus is on taking cover and popping out to shoot. On easier difficulty levels you can pop your head out longer than necessary and survive a good deal of enemy fire, but, on the harder difficulty levels you will be forced to play it safe.

Xbox owners need look no further to Gears of War to satisfy their action gaming needs.

This is one of the best games of 2006.
