Gears of war is by far the best game of this year

Gears of war is kind of like a hybrid between ghost recon advanced warfighter, and halo. The main character is marcus fenix, a soldier in the COG (Coalition of Governments). The first level is breaking fenix out of jail, he is in there for being a traitor, however the game does not yet give away how. Then you are almost instantly into the action. The combat is largely around taking cover and carefully placing your shots, however in some parts it does work well to simply run and gun. There is a nice range of weapons throughout the game, with some new and interesting ideas such as the toque bow and the hammer of dawn. The graphics are truely amazing, even on a standard def TV, the best grpahics on the 360 and probably out for any format at the moment, including the so called 'powerhouse' the PS3, resistence come nowhere near gears of war. It may seem kind of hard at the start, but once you get used to the simple controls and develop your own strategies it become easy. I myself have beaten the game on insane. Also the campaign is well developed for both single player and co-op, which is great. The only flaws i can think of are the campaign is kind of short, and the commanding of your sqaud feature feels a little tacked on as you do not need to use it. With great online gameplay as well, gears of war is the must have for this year
Good: The Great Graphics, nice soundtrack, the controls, the detail of the environments, great multiplayer modes, driving the junker.
Bad: Campaign is a little short, squad commanding rarely used
