- Jan 17, 2013 2:07 pm GMTmyself-boycotting. why? i don't like what i've been hearing about this game for one thing. however, it is mainly because of the mess gow3 has become. i do not live in mexico. i pay 80 a month for internet. i do not want to play people with substandard internet. i do not see myself paying to experience that in another game. inexcusable. end of story.

one hitmarker changes the whole course and possibly the outcome of any given game. tell me again about your stats? - Jan 17, 2013 4:11 pm GMTIf this were a new IP that played exactly like this, I'd probably really like it. But it isn't Gears of War anymore.

I'll love you with all the madness in my soul. - Jan 17, 2013 5:52 pm GMTI marked "Couldn't care less." I'm not a fan of the changes being made, but I don't usually get mad at companies for changing things up (for better or worse.) I'm not buying the game because it doesn't seem appealing to me, not because I have a grudge against the company (although Epic seems to be going downhill as well.)

\m/ - Jan 18, 2013 1:46 am GMTnot a fan of the un-Gears like direction the series is heading, time to move onto greener pastures.

young enough to still enjoy being a ass, old enough not to give a damn about how it makes you feel. - Jan 18, 2013 6:37 am GMTSomewhere between boycotting and couldn't care less. Some friends I've made on Gears 2/3 are trying to be partial towards it and get the old group interested, but everytime I see some vid or hear some news it's just one dumb change or gameplay design after the other.

War never changes - Jan 18, 2013 1:01 pm GMTI also fall between boycott/dont care. I stopped caring about this game once I heard no execution/warzone, no dbno. Taking out dbno in gears of war is like taking out shields in halo. Im all for change in a game, but they're removing some of the most important aspects that made Gears what it is. Game types that gave you only one life per round made every single round intense and valuable. You couldn't play like an idiot in call of duty and just rush into danger knowing that you'll be able to respawn immediately anyway. Every single death and down was valuable and can turn the tide of the entire match. Gears was a game that didn't recommend teamwork, it demanded it. All the main features in the first gears that made it unique and much more satisfying (one life rounds, dbno, blindfiring, deliberate grenade use) from all the other cookie cutter shooters out there are being removed. I just watched a judgment gameplay video. I saw things like spawning with power weapons, one button grenade tossing, being able to stick grenades just by throwing them(seriously wtf? This isn't halo) using a lancer with a boomsheild, having a reticle for blindfiring, and all this other stuff that automatically just turned me away from the game.
And I see people say things like "people can't deal with change so they just complain and cry" But the issue is, they're not changing anything, they're removing it all together. They're taking out almost everything that made gears of war what it is, now it might as well be called a third person call of duty. This game can look like gears, sound like gears, and call itself gears, but this isn't gears.
And in all honesty I will rent this game from redbox just because it is a gears game and I know I'll enjoy the story and that new overrun mode, but unless drastic changes happen, which I doubt, no way am I buying this game. If I want this type of gameplay in my multiplayer matches, I'll pop in halo or call of duty.

Warriors/49ers - Jan 18, 2013 1:29 pm GMTcouldn't care less - I picked this one because I won't pay $60 for this game to play TMD and play the campaign once, I don't hate the game though
- Jan 19, 2013 2:39 pm GMTcouldnt care less.im fine with gears 3 being the last one unless they come out with something even better which this isnt. i have no interest in buying any game thats not as good as what im currently playing.

GT-xNinjaScrollx - Jan 20, 2013 12:20 am GMTBoycotting. Honestly, I never planned on buying this.
From the appalling news, to the fact that they removed fundamentals which practically made Gears of War iconic from this game, to the fact that the multiplayer essentially looks like a watered down version of Gears 3.

Poppy Bros. Junior! Poppy Bros. Senior! - Jan 20, 2013 3:26 am GMTyeah...as has been stated by others. this is nothing more than an activi$ion style cash grab that has been rushed out and is capitalizing on a name before the next gen console comes out.

buying a game off xbox live? might want to consider that you can only play it while connected to xbox live. you can't even play the game on other accounts. - Jan 20, 2013 4:20 am GMTAt the moment I just don't care, I'll most likely pick it up eventually depending on whether it gets good reviews, some actual good news for once or a price drop.
- Jan 21, 2013 11:45 am GMTwas gonna buy, now sounds like for sure no horde, and as others mentioned, seemed like an active move to lose its identity. I have enough shooters already if Gears is leaving what makes it niche work.
...an odd spot. I do care... wife and I love horde, with another couple too. but i have bl1, bl2, me3 and now two xboxes... lose me good co-op (hello less interesting split-screen coop since MW2) and you loose this customer. similarly moves in the right direction, innovation (hi me3 mp which sucked me in with the demo) and I spend my $ there. - Jan 22, 2013 10:39 am GMT"myself-boycotting. why? i don't like what i've been hearing about this game for one thing. however, it is mainly because of the mess gow3 has become. i do not live in mexico. i pay 80 a month for internet. i do not want to play people with substandard internet. i do not see myself paying to experience that in another game. inexcusable. end of story."
I pretty much never pre-order video games, and this one is probably going to be no different. And this is because I always try to view other peoples ideas of the game before I get it, like reviews, etcetera.

You people are un-freaking believable!! You and a bunch of others here are complaining about all the changes they're making. I just came from another topic where a guy is whining about the fact that it looks like this is just pretty much exactly like Gears 3.
Why would anybody want to make games when no matter what they do all people do is complain about it.
Why don't all you whiny babies just shut up! Holy crap, at least wait until it's out to start your crying.

Did you read past the first second? At no point did I complain about what they're doing I specifically said "but I don't usually get mad at companies for changing things up." I don't give a **** if they change the game, it's their game to change. I'm not going to get up in arms over it. I'll discuss the changes here (and on the Epic forums,) but I'm not going to spam hateful messages about the game. You have to understand that disapproving something is not the same as complaining about it.

You obviously didn't read past my first sentence either. I chose to quote your post but I also said, "You AND A BUNCH OF OTHERS HERE..."
It's just the same old song and I'm sick of it. Just as many people will COMPLAIN about changes as those that will COMPLAIN about them not changing enough.
Fortunately, the whiners that are so pervasive on this site are the extremely vocal minority. This game - as all the Gears games - will do well. And even many of the complainers will be all too eager to hand over their 60 bucks so they can find more to cry about on message boards.

Five million Cybermen, easy. One Doctor...now you're scared. - Jan 23, 2013 8:33 pm GMTThe strength of Gears of War has always been the single player campaign, online MP has always been a joke. I'll wait for reviews. All I hear is people crying about multiplayer, which I don't care about for Gears. Don't like the idea of playing as Baird, but it might turn out good so we'll see.
