User Rating: 9.5 | Gears of War 3 X360
Gears of War 3 is the end to one of Xbox's favorited franchises. Needless to say Epic has outdone themselves with this third and final installment.

First we'll cover the campaign. The biggest, and probably the best, change to campaign is the addition of 4-player co-op play. Now you can take on the locust and the lambent with 3 friends, not just one, and you'll need their help if you wanna beat the game on insane difficulty. Another addition is the Arcade mode. Now you can play through and compete with friends and see who gets the highest score on each chapter.
The visuals are absolutely amazing in GoW 3. The shadows move with the light, the water looks real, and even the smoke from a smoke grenade seems perfectly done.
The audio is very well done also. The music does a good job of helping you feel the emotions for that particular part in the game, whether it be sad, anxious, nervous or a feeling of relief as you take down a lambent berserker for the first time. Well done Epic.

Now we'll move on to multiplayer and all the new features which is the biggest selling point in my eyes. We'll start with the online versus modes. All the previous modes return along with Team Deathmatch, which gives each team a pool of lives. First one to run out of lives loses. Versus is still amazing, fun and competitive, the only flaws I have with it have to do with two of the weapons. First is the sawed-off shotgun. This gun is so overpowered you don't even need to use any other guns in your playstyle and you will still come out on top as MVP of the match. This issue needs to be addressed and fixed ASAP. The second is the sniper rifle. I understand trying to nerf it, but without you being able to down and enemy with a perfect active reload, this weapon is almost useless.

Moving on to Horde mode, my favorite. I can play this new horde mode for hours upon hours. The forming of bases, fortifying your base with wires, decoys, turrets, and the infamous silverback all while leveling up each type to unlock some form of better style. It's perfect. Boss waves add more depth to it, leaving you wondering if you're going to have to fend off a lambent berserker or a much easier mini corpser attack. Very well done.

Lastly we have Beast mode. It's so fun playing as tickers I cant get enough of it. This is pretty much the same as Horde mode, but you are attacking a fortified enemy, the COG, and it is your job to wipe them out each wave. As you progress they get more Heroes (Marcus, Dom, Cole, etc) who can only be killed by executions, which makes taking out barriers through teamwork essential. Enjoy this game type.

Well that's it and this is my last review before departing for my second tour in afghanistan. Everyone stay safe and enjoy playing all the great games coming out this holiday season. I know I can't wait to get back and play them all.
