It's too bad Gears 2 didn't "deliver on all fronts" as Bleszinski said. Great narrative plus great gameplay equals all-time classic, to be sure... but Gears 2 definitely fell under the great gameplay, crappy narrative, great game description. Either way, he did address a very important point, in that respect. I highly enjoyed the game when I played it with my bro, it just didn't strike me as compelling enough to be one of the best games of all-time, but rather just one of the best shooters to date.

News flash..Starcraft 2, Crysis, Sins of a solar empire, WoW,Eq2 Warhammer 40k 2 The Kings Bounty or Diablo 3 will never be released onto consoles ..lol! god it's good to be a Pc gamer!
yeah i don't really care too much about graphics, just game play. and if the game is fun i will play it. Crysis's graphics are amazing but it isn't as fun as some other games. i play a game for FUN not for shinny graphics. and the only reason i buy more powerful consoles is because a more powerful system allows for more game play exploration
This is reason why i left PC gaming.. too many config.. you get a game that runs perfect on 1 setup, then not the next.. and upgrade cost every year is killer.. But PC will always shine for the MMORPG area..
epic games would not exist without pc. we were there when you needed us to buy unreal tournament etc. now you abandon us pc gamers if your games weren't so awesome i would never play them again in protest

people keep saying how much more consoles cost for all the extra content but at least on a console you don't need a $100 piece of hardware every six months just to be able to play the latest game at a good quality. granted the mod communities for a lot of pc games are cool, but get old and annoying rather quick. when i just want to play a normal mode on a standard map and can't i honestly just shut off my computer and go back to my console or i'll play my console while it downloads a map and game type that were a complete waste of time.essentially i stopped playing and buying pc games for that reason
PC is dying? please!! Look at the MMORPG genre, the RTS genre, Turnbased Strategy Games.. there has yet to be a relly great game from any of these genres on any console! (yes, 360-version of C&C was good but not GREAT!). I am a console gamer but honestly, if I could afford to be a pc-gamer I would. (LOVE GEARS OF WAR!!! CAN't WAIT!!!:P)
Why does every console fanboy always think pc gaming is dying? A ton of great games just came out on the pc. Remember Epic also swore up and down that the original Gears wasn't coming out on PC either. Gears 2 WILL come out for the PC and have extra content and much better graphics. Saying consoles are better than pc's or vice versa is just childish, right up there with people who are loyal to nvidia or Ati. Unless you have major stock in one of those companies why the hardcore stance? I love console games, pc games, and who ever puts out the best card or chip gets my money.
Ok couple of things here to note why PC gaming is Dieing, Its not Piracy. Which XBOX has tons of that as well, its even easier since nobody needs to even crack Xbox games, they just download them and they work, even online. Just the mod chip is the only barrier and thats easy to get. Anyway it really all comes down to money and profits. Game Developers are realizing that Console Games are a clossed platform that they can milk money from constant mods that people are used to getting for free on PC. They also sell at higher prices which again PC gamers wouldnt go for suddenly having their game prices jackup $10-20. The playerbase of gamers is huge among consoles now, therefore even with piracy they sell tons of product. While PC gamers are a much smaller minority these days. The console gamers will keep throwing out dollars for addon packs, achievements, and even silly things like Sack Boy costumes, which would be free on a PC. Its the new pricing model of the 20th century. Money my friends. Its also killing PC sales and making PCs dirt cheap since their arent as many games now, but things will shift again when people get tired of paying for every little addon map pack, Guitar Hero song, and downloadable content. PreOrdering is another terrible trap gamers have fallen into. It encourages developers to overhype their games and release them with tons of bugs or incomplete. Why do people Preorder? Gamers need to stock acting like Crack Addicts.
I think more companies should focus on the consoles rather then the PC. it's frustrating to keep up with the constant hardware changes plus the huge costs. long live the standard age...
As a former PC aficionado, all I have to say to my former fellow aficionados is that you guys dug your own grave by pirating to much crap. Seriously quite crying about it because if anyone had actually bought the first Gears on PC instead of downloading it on Bit torrent then we would not be having this discussion.
But I only kept my Xbox 360 because I knew Gears of War 2 was coming. The first Gears made virtually no money on the PC, so why would they release it for anything other than Xbox?

Why the Xbox360 exclusives have to come out to PC sooner or later ? I think its a good decision!! Good cry for PS3 and Wii exclusives for PC! everyone talks bad about Xbox titles but everyone wants to get them on PC!

why is everyone crying because its not coming for PC and talking about epic's past games. i agree with darth brahma. and baically if you dont love gears enough to get a 360 then it doesent matter that much to you.
The PC does have too many configurations. I agree with this guy, this game is far too advanced for some PCs and a lot of people are trying to install games like this on their lower-end PCs only to find out that it runs crappy and then..what do they do? They end up selling the game on eBay or something. What a waste. Just remember, the Xbox 360 runs on 3 cores, a falcon motherboard with an ATI Xenos GPU. If your PC can match these configurations, then you can expect a great and smooth running game, if not, forget about the Intel Core 2 Duos and upgrade your PC to a quad-core with a the best graphics card out there. I'm a PC gamer also and I think Epic made a great move by not releasing this game on the PC.

Fair point on Pc games, its the same developers i generally buy from. Hard market to break into. Why spend so much time paying for your team to develop a game for PC when its copied and sold for 5 bucks? Parrot...the game business is a business, to make good games you have to have financial backing, your not going to get financial backing if you don't sell games. Why risk your career on releasing the game on PC when you've got a game that's gonna sell well anyway?

After reading so many comments about this, I am wondering how many of you went to school and learned proper grammar. Oh and with the PC constantly evolving, I can understand the dilemma of developing for it. Something consoles have no issue with.
he's just saying what makes the best sales, saying it will never come to the pc makes sure no one will be holding out for a pc release over the 360 version. Just like when gears came to PC he said how PC was the true intended platform for gears to shine on or something along those lines...
Siiighhh... No one seems to understand that Cliff doesn't have anything against the PC. It's typically a business move. Working hard into something, putting effort into it and then having it not sell very well to a certain platform, still have a million glitches, and then even get your game pirated is not a easy thing to be able to look at in your company. He probably means, the Gears of War Series is not going to be on the PC. Not, every game he'll ever make from now on. I'm pretty sure he is not expressing any kind of hate at all. Just looks like he stated out his plan on that.
Yeah, not real sure about the whole 'hate in his eyes' thing, but if you think about it, the PC market is a very hard nut to crack. Market penetration is difficult as most of the successful PC game companies have been releasing on PC for years, some decades, and therefore have very large, very loyal fan bases. Aside from apparent previous experience with PC releases not going well for Cliff, it just makes business sense. The percentage of people who have played Gears of War on console, but would rather have it release on PC is not exactly robust, and even fewer still are those who have never played Gears but are waiting patiently for some sort of PC release. And by the way, PC Gaming is not going the way of the dodo. Ever. As long as companies like Blizzard exist, millions of PC owners on every continent will continue to rally behind their full towers.
You can see the hate in Cliff's eyes when he talks about PC. He doesn't seem to like Playstation 3 much either and he has bashed Wii before, so basically most other gamers hate him except 360 gamers... I wonder what'll he do if he starts having problems with Microsoft in future and decides to make a game to some other platform where hes not liked so much...
Cliff, to say your going to focus on one platform in order to make the best game possible is fine. That's understandable. But to stick your tongue out at the PC and say you're never going to try to make a PC game "EVER" again since PC players didn't eat up your gift of stale console leftovers? Get serious. Before writing off the whole platform, try putting out something worth buying.
I'm so glad it's not coming to PC. Epic learned from their mistake by releasing the game on PC and it was pirated. PC gaming is about dead anyway. Long Live Consoles.
