Gears of War 2 User Review
Gears of War 2 builds upon it's predecessor in more ways than one, making it a great sequel.

Gears of War 2 is a game which is excels in giving you "reasons" to play it.
Whereas many sequels have minor improvements over their predecessor, Gears of War 2 goes alot further than many sequels.
Take the story for example, it is more poignant, longer, and more engaging. Though the novelty factor has worn off by now, the game never feels dull or old.
The gameplay improvements help to keep the experience fresh. Unfortunately, the fundamental gameplay has not been tweaked to incorporate fresh elements. Instead, the improvements look to add ways to defend (meat shield) or kill (more weapons of destruction) but nothing in the way of "revolutionising" the basic gameplay.
That doesn't stop the game being great.
Horde is the best new addition to Gears of War 2. A mode where upto 5 players attempt to survive wave after wave of Locust hordes. This is THE mode for replayability. Working as a team is a joy.
The online multiplayer remains pretty much the same. A few minor tweaks here and there help freshen it but don't improve on the basic gameplay.
