Sims sequel on-the-go gone gold

Sony's PSP plays host to EA's simulated Strangetown citizenry in December; new version features exclusive neighborhoods, locations.

In its apparently ongoing bid for omnipresence, the Sims franchise is set to debut on the PSP next month, as Electronic Arts today announced that The Sims 2 has gone gold for Sony's handheld.

Already available on the PC, PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, and mobile phones, The Sims 2 is set to ship for the PSP December 7. While it's built around the series' formula of balancing a simulated person's wants, needs, and motives, the PSP Sims 2 has a few exclusive features. The game is set in the unusual Sim city of Strangetown, and features five new neighborhoods and 20 locations built specifically for this edition of the game.

The Sims 2 for the PSP is rated T for Teen and retails for $49.99. For more information, check out GameSpot's hands-on preview.

It's bad enough trying to micromanage myself out of bed every morning without also having to do the same thing to a sim on the way to real life work. I'll pass!

And the Xbox is like twice as powerful as a PS2 (remember, it takes about four times the power for double the results) so how does he draw that conclusion about the Xbox? o_O No comparison with PSP.

I'd say more inbetween Dreamcast and PS2.

Lol! The PS3? I don't think so... It doesn't quite meet the ps2's graphic standards.

It is kind of Sad when a handheld looks as good as the xbox or PS3... You think it would look and run better on the bigger systems. For that i give the PSP the medal of Performance!
