How do you do more damage at the first part of the game?

In a Zoids Institute (white building in every town) you can increase a weapon's base damage by 20 up to 5 times (so up to 100 more damage) by talking to the guy and going into the Customization options there. The cost of this goes up with every upgrade and depends on value of the Zoid and how many targets (a W weapon costs 3x to upgrade as a S weapon).
Also know that an enemy's defense value directly subtracts from the damage you do. A 130-power attack will (if not critical) do 100 against an enemy with 30 defense.

Earn Money!! (that's all you need to get unbeatable). When you have lots of money, go to the building with the sign of a liger head. then, talk to the guy with the white suit. select " Customize" then, "Fixed arm improved offense or something like that. choose the Zoid you want upgraded then select the weapon you want to upgrade. you can do it up to 5 times.

You may want to tap "A" as soon as you start attacking to maximize your damage. It helps I tell you I fought Death Meteor and used attacks like High Wave Claw and it only does 1 damage without the tap and 200 with the tap. Evading is also the same as soon as they attack press "B". It may also help to upgrade your zoids and gain a few levels.
