Aussie game charts: October 2-8

Pokémon tops Aussie sales charts for second week in a row; Xbox 360 games fall out of top 10.

It seems Aussie gamers just can't get enough Pokémon action in their lives, with the latest titles from Nintendo's pocket monster stable claiming the top two slots in Australia's game charts for the second week in a row.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team for the DS and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team for the Game Boy Advance landed in the first and second spots, respectively, according to figures from data trackers GfK Australia. GfK's sales figures for the week of October 2 to October 8 also show that Nintendo managed to sneak another entry into the top 10 games list, with Dr Kawashima's Brain Training for the DS coming in at number 10.

PlayStation 2 titles dominated the charts this week, with six of the top 10 entries being games for Sony's soon-to-be-last-generation console. And in an unusual occurrence, PC mainstay World of Warcraft made it into the overall top 10, landing in seventh position.

Xbox 360 titles, however, have completely fallen out of the weekly top 10. Last week's best-selling 360 game, Test Drive Unlimited, failed to make the overall top 10, but managed to make it to the number two spot in the 360-specific charts.

See, Aussies are totally different gamers from Americans ... we enjoy the Sims a whole lot more on the PC, we aren't embracing the next-gen consoles and we have difficulty pronouning number 10 on the list ...

I just found out (when I bought Splinter Cell, woohoo) that Gears of War is coming out on the same day as Rainbow 6. Oh well, have to get them both.

Woo, go you little kids, dragging their mothers to buy pokemon. I've been shocked at how goddamn many of them I've seen getting mystery dungeon (don't worry, not a jibe and Nintendo nor pokemon, which I happen to respect as a great RPG franchise). But nonetheless very suprising to see BOTH versions at the top.

To the a-holes seemingly confused about The Sims taking up the majority of the spots in the PC charts, yes The Sims.
This might come as a shocker, but it's actually a pretty good game.
That, and it's just best selling list right?
Well don't need charts to know that The Sims is one of the best selling franchises across the globe. Just because it doesn't strike a chord with the so-called 'hardcore gamer' demographic, doesn't make it so.
It appeals to people of all ages, hell I see middleaged to fairly elderly females buy them in droves, and guys buying them too - usually with other things because of some manly macho BS thing they have going on.

And to the ahole who doesn't care about the sales here, don't read it. Noones forcing you too. Gamespot Australia's been on the rise. YES! THERE ARE COUNTRYS OUTSIDE OF AMERICA OR WHEREVER YOU INHABIT. Some people do actually give a flying eff about people other then themselves. Gamespots mainly an American dominated site, sure - but I've been reading for years all the same and enjoying it, I'm glad to see some Aussie focused content and I'm sure other Australians feel the same.

So shut the eff up. Cheers.

"And I care about Austrailian game charts...why?"

WHY did you bother looking at this if you didn't care?

Anyway...an Aussie chart report? Awesome. I like seeing what's doing well in other parts of the world. I hope this becomes a regular news item.
