Yu-Gi-Oh! tourney battling at Comic-Con
The San Diego convention gets another gaming tournament; four US winners will later compete in Japan at world championships.
The San Diego Comic-Con, starting this week, is chiefly reserved for animation, comics, and similar events, but it's getting its fair share of game-related material, too. Last week, Capcom announced it is showing off a bunch of games at the four-day convention, including a tournament for the highly anticipated Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting. Today, Konami--maker of the Yu-Gi-Oh! series of video games--has announced a 16-person Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament to take place at the Southern California convention. Scheduled for Comic-Con's last day on July 23, the competition will pit convention-goers against one another playing Yu-Gi-Oh! Ultimate Masters World Championship Tournament 2006 for the Game Boy Advance, which was released in March. The four Comic-Con champions will travel to Tokyo, Japan, where world-championship matches are being held on August 5 and 6.
