Welcome to GL Fond Memories #5. Any way I have not played a lot of Gauntlet: DL in the past few days, but I have finally beaten Scorne and have 12 of the 13 rune stones.

I played a little of Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows. It is okay, but it feels like a stripped down game. The lack of collecting rune stones, unlockable characters, moves, and replay value. Right now though I am probably about half way through with Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows.

    Fond Memories topic lives on!

the previous topic lasted almost 2 years!

K, I have never played Seven Sorrows but I heard it's vastly different from Legends/Dark Legacy. I might play it some day just to see how it compares to the rest of the series

I beat Seven Sorrows today, and it is decent but no where near as good as GL or GL. G: SS is the perfect definition of rental title. It's great for a weekend, but that is all it is good for since it will take that long to beat on solo even less with co-op. Also does not help that when you die you just spawn instantly at the last checkpoint eliminating part of the difficulty.

LOL that last one did last a long time, but its time for part 5! Heh sneaky K, you got the 500th post! *K gains all the rune stones for now *

Well you guys have really made Gauntlet Dark Legacy sound really awesome so I may just have to go out and buy it.

I think Seven Sorrows was the last Gauntlet game to come out and that was like 5 years ago. They need to make a new one already, or at least release that DS game that's stuck in limbo

Jage, pick up Dark Legacy pronto. Don't deny yourself the definitive Gauntlet experience!

hmm, all this Gauntlet talk makes me want to boot up Gauntlet Legends for the good ol N64 (after all, where would the Fond Memories topics be without it?)

Ugh. I can not stand the bonus level Cloud 9 in G: DL. If you are going to make a level that difficulty than at least give unlimited attempts at it instead forcing players to replay the entire level just to get one shot at the level. It is absurd. Sadly, it is the only level I have left plus reach level 99 than I am done with the game.

Yay, I actually enjoyed the N64 controller for this game, so it might always be the best for me. Booting up the original will always be a good decision Star Which system is Dark Legacy best for?

Lol K, you are going to have to pwn that level for the people!

I think all the ports of Dark Legacy are pretty much the same but I heard you can't deselect items and power-ups in the PS2 version. I'd go with the Gamecube and Xbox versions

well I don't have Starcraft 2 (my computer is ancient) but I do have the next best thing:... Starcraft 64! >_>

I say go with the Xbox version. IMO it is the best version. You can deselect items (PS2 version can not) and gargoyles and golems have life bars (GCN does not) and Xbox version has both plus the new items that were exclusive to the GCN version.

WOOT! Finally, I beat Cloud 9! That terrible, terrible bonus level and I reached level 99 LEGEND, Green Jester on hard difficulty without dying.

    *breaks out the Dwarven ale*

Also the level Nightmare has an awesome song!

But if you do not have an original Xbox than the GCN would be the next best version.

Here the next part of the story.

    "WOW! It's beautiful!" Ashley said.
Ashley and Yuri are standing in a gazebo on a ledge that over looks the ocean and a stone path leads that is aligned with rose bushes leads up to the gazebo.
"Yes, it is. I used to hang out here a lot when I was younger, and I remember thinking to myself how I want this to be the place that I confess my love to the one that I love. Now that I think about it, it seems pretty cheesy," Yuri said.
    "That sounds romantic," Ashley said.
"Do you still want to know?" Yuri asked.
"Huh? Are you talking about your crush? If so, yes, I still want to know," Ashley replied.
"I promise that I will tell you at the end of this vacation," Yuri said.
"I look forward to it," Ashley said.
"Bet you are. It's getting late. We should head back," Yuri said.
    "All right," Ashley said.

Ishiro is leaning on the rail on the second floor that over looks the lobby, and it is late and every one has turned in for the night.
"Hiro, you just do not understand, and I hate it because I fear it could hurt our friendship. Never would I want that to happen," Ishiro thought.
A hand grabbed and started pushing Ishiro.
"Hey, let me go," Ishiro said.
    The rail started cracking.
    "Let him go!" Hiro demanded.
Hiro ran over to the figure that is wearing a black robe then he punched them in the back. He grabbed the figure and threw them down to the ground.
    "Are you okay?" Hiro asked.
    "Yes. Thank you," Ishiro replied.
"Ishiro, I need you to go and get help," Hiro said.
"No! I am not leaving you," Ishiro said.
"You have to go while I stay here and keep our guest busy," Hiro said.
    "Okay," Ishiro said.
Ishiro ran down the opposing hallway towards the staircase. The figure rushed over to Hiro as they pulled out a knife, and they thrust the knife into Hiro's stomach. Blood poured out of the wound, and the figure pulled the knife out. Hiro looked at the figure's face, and he turned pale.
"NO! There is no way," Hiro said.
The figure shoved Hiro, and Hire flew backwards through the rail. Hiro hit the ground with a loud thud, and Ishiro froze in horror at the sight he just witnessed. The figure turned towards Ishiro, and they held up one figure and shook it left-to-right several times before they bolted down the hallway. Ishiro rushed down the stairs and over to Hiro as tears ran down his cheeks, and he fell to his knees near the pool of Hiro's blood.
    "UUUUHHH!" Hiro gasped.
    "Hiro?!" Ishiro said.
"Y-Y-Y-Y-YURI," Hiro said with his final breath.
"No, Hiro!" Ishiro said as he shook Hiro, "Hiro! HIRO! HHHHHIIIIIIRRRRROOOOO!"

Ha ha, yeah Star! Starcraft 64 is so awesome. You should definitely play Diablo 2 though, on your computer. It should be able to run it no problem.

K, the people thank you and that song you linked is so sick. *Brings another keg of Dwarven ale* I like the direction of your new story btw.

lol Jage, I just recently played Starcraft 64 with a friend of mine. We had some epic battles against the computer. Battle.Net with keyboard/mouse? What's that? We play split-screen style with N64 controllers! >_>

And I will check out Diablo 2 sometime. I played the first Diablo when it came out and I remember liking it. Diablo 3 looks cool too. I need to get a better computer so I don't miss out on all these awesome Blizzard games!

K, great chapter and it's good to hear that you reached level 99. I'm in the process of playing through Gauntlet Legends with my Blue Wizard (level 32).

Thanks. I'm glad that you two like it. However there is not much left in the story so here is the next part.

    Day 2

Yuri jumped up as she gasped for air, and her heart is pounding.
"I have a bad feeling about today," Yuri pondered.

    KNOCK-KNOCK!

Yuri stood up, and she walked over to the door and opened it.
"Hello, Yuri, you are wanted downstairs," Derek said.
"Oh, okay. Let me change first," Yuri said.
Yuri shut the door then she quickly changed before she left the room.
"What happened?" Yuri asked as Derek and her walked down the hall.
"You will find out once you are downstairs," Derek replied.
Yuri noticed Ishiro walking towards her.
    "Hello, Ishiro," Yuri said.
Ishiro gave Yuri an evil look as he walked past her.
"What was that about?" Yuri asked.
"Be quiet and stop delaying," Derek replied sounding annoyed.

"Not again," Yuri thought as she walked down the stairs.
A man walked over to Yuri, and he is wearing a grey pants, grey vest over a white shirt, and black dress shoes.
"So this is Yuri?" Detective Roy asked, "is there a small room where we can talk alone?"
"Yes, my office which you can reach by going through the door behind the front desk," Derk replied.
"All right. Yuri, lead the way," Roy said.

Roy shut the door then he walked over to the desk and sat down.
"What is going on?" Yuri asked.
"I am going to be honest. Right now things are not looking good for you. Early this morning Hiro Itaku was killed, and his final words are 'there is no way' and 'Yuri'," Roy replied.
    "That's terrible," Yuri said.
"Indeed. Where were you last night?" Roy asked.
"I was in my room with my friend Ashley," Yuri replied.
"Did she fall asleep before you?" Roy asked.
"Oh, no! Ashley was wide awake, and she usually falls asleep after me," Yuri replied.
"Did you kill Hiro?" Roy asked.
    "No," Yuri replied.
"Well, we will see. We will see," Roy said.

The hall way doors flew open as Ashley ran into the indoor pool room, and she came to a stop gasping for air.
"Where are you, Yuri?" Ashley pondered, "Wait! She as to be there!"

Raine paced back-and-forth in her bedroom while Derek is sitting at the desk in the corner of the room.
"Cut it out, now," Derek said sounding irritated.
"How can you be so calm? Our daughter is being falsely accused and will most likely be arrested. They need to know the truth," Raine said.
"NO! It is none of their business, and you are not going to tell any one," Derek said.
"Why? Could this be about the family business? Are you willing to forsake your daughter because of your pride, you stubborn old fool?" Raine asked.
"What daughter? We have no kids," Derek replied.
Raine let out a sigh as she shook her head.
"Fine. I am going to tell them with or without you," Raine said.
"Wait! You are right. Let me freshen up then we will go together and tell them," Derek said.
    "Thank you, dear," Raine said.
Derek walked over to the bathroom door.
"This will not take long," Derek said with a devilish grin.

Split-screen!?!?!?!? Dude that is pretty sick. I don't think anything will ever beat Golden Eye as the best split-screen multi-player experience though. Battletanx is a close second imo. Right now I am actually having a lot of fun with Suikoden 3. It has a lot of the old school fantasy vibe I have been messing with a lot of rpgs these days.

How many more chapters are left in your current story K? Do you have some ideas already for your next story?

G Cool, congrats on the level 99. It is pure awesome being this unstoppable juggernaut and just go around killing everything with ease.

looks like we're both on some hot RPG action. I've been playing Arc Rise Fantasia, which is practically the only traditional JRPG on the Wii. It's got all the typical familiar tropes associated with JRPGs and the voice acting is down right atrocious, but for some reason I'm loving it.

Hell yeah! The ole familiar tropes never get old in my opinion. Poor voice acting can be fun if its the campy kind of bad.

    Long live the Duke!

lol Jage, I guess bad voice acting can be entertaining sometimes (it's akin to watching something like The Room)

It's been to long, Duke Nukem. It's time for the king to return.

How many more chapters are left in your current story K? Do you have some ideas already for your next story?

Day 2 is the final chapter (not including the epilogue). However, I have two ideas for story. One is a horror story about a girl that has lost her memories, and the second one is an action story set in the future.
