The Great Patriotic War or Lebensraum...it's your chioice, Grigsby style

User Rating: 7.5 | Gary Grigsby's War in Russia PC
This game from the early 1990s allows you to play as either Russia or Germany (and its allies Italy, Romania, etc.) simulating the World War II eastern front. You have a great representation of the air and land forces available to Hitler and Stalin (sorry, no naval forces, but Germany one-on-one would probably have crushed the Russian navy), and you move your forces around a hex style map of much of Eurasia. Similar to Grigsby's Pacific War of the same era, the OOB is well thought out, but the game is best played against another human as the AI tends to be weak. Still, it is quite enjoyable and can be found for free on the 'net. EDIT: I have edited this review, cleaning up my grammar (which is worse than I had originally thought)...having to get to 800 words, other thing I remember about this game is the very good representation of all the different airplanes and tanks, from the earliest panzers to the obsolete Russian tanks, and again nearly all the different types of airplanes too!
