Garry's Mod. What is it? The best way to describe it is as a physics sandbox. There is no goal to the game and the player can choose what he wants to do. The tools are given to you and let you use freely. You can make a car, spaceship, catapult, pretty much anything your mind can think of. It may not be a game, but I will say it is one in this review to avoid confusion for me and for you.

Garry's Mod's graphics aren't anything spectacular, but they don't need to be. As game's like Counter Strike and Half Life 2 run on the same engine, you should expect it to look the same. Everything looks pretty realistic, from buildings to barrels. The only negative is the need of textures. In order to see walls, certain items, etc. You will need games like Counter Strike, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2. This can cost you more money than it really should. Personally, I can see why Valve did this but I don't think it was necessary for everyone. While there is a work-around, it is much easier to buy the games.

Garry's Mod has a ton of items, mostly from Half Life 2. There are only 2 maps in the game for you to mess around in, but they are large and have various things like flat surfaces, hills, and water. There are tons of items to spawn in such as NPC's (Humans, Zombies, Etc.), Props and Vehicles. You also have a bunch of "tools" at your disposal. These range from Balloons where you can edit the shape, color and force, from a weld tool that you can use to connect 2 items together. These are only a few of the items and tools in the game. While you can have fun with just this, the game really shines with the community. Players across the globe have made LOADS of stuff. From game-modes to weapons to vehicles to NPC's to maps. This game has it all. The only con with this as you must obviously download the content, which can use up bandwidth. This can be a problem for some, however, most downloads are small and it shouldn't be an issue if you have a high GB capacity. Famous game-modes are Trouble In Terrorist Town and Prop Hunt with hundreds more. The controls in G-Mod are responsive, just like all Valve games. The game is pretty much everything you want from a video game. Garry's Mod has something for everyone to enjoy.

The sound effects in this game are hilarious. Various game modes will play different music and sound effects. A ton of the audio is meant to be crazy, hilarious or downright stupid, so do not expect anything mind-blowing or extremely serious. The only thing that can be problematic is a server with loads of people who are all using voice chat at once. It can block the in-game sounds and can be very annoying at times. Thankfully, Valve put a mute button in the main menu to avoid this issue.

Overall, G-Mod has an infinite amount of replay value. The amount of content is extremely high and many more things are being made as I write this review. The game is fun with friends and is hilarious most of the time. For $10 ($30 with textures; still an amazing price), this game is a must-buy and is well worth your time.
