With the introduction of the $199 online bundle--now with a free game in addition to the PS2 and network adapter--there's little reason not to get your PS2 ready to go online. There are more PS2 games with online support, and it's not hard to get an existing PS2 ready to join the multiplayer competition online. Otherwise, the ultimate PlayStation 2 setup is still defined by the audio and video hardware you have the console hooked up to. If you happen to have a nice, big television for it, then don't skimp on the cables. Make sure you get component connectors for maximum image quality.

While the PlayStation 2 doesn't have full Dolby Digital 5.1, it does support surround sound via Dolby Pro Logic. There are any number of affordable audio products with this feature, which can also come in handy for playing music and DVDs. |
