To get the most out of your PlayStation 2, you'll need more than the basic $179 PS2 kit or $199 online bundle. First off, for multiplayer action you'll need at least one extra controller, and those rare four-player games require a PS2 Multitap to get all the controllers connected. And, naturally, games can only sound good and look good if you have a quality television and decent speakers. To improve video quality, you can use an S-video cable, and powered speakers are an affordable way to pump up the audio.

PlayStation 2 Online Bundle
In Sony's online package you'll find the PS2 console, one Dual Shock 2 controller, a composite video cable, a network adapter, and a game--currently ATV Offroad Fury |

Extra Dual Shock 2 controller
One of the best console controllers around, the Dual Shock 2 is small enough to fit any hands. The two analog sticks, four face buttons, and four shoulder buttons mean there are enough controls to handle practically any game. To use more than two controllers, you'll need a PS2 Multitap. |

S-video cable
If you have a recent television with S-video input, take advantage of the improved image quality a S-video cable offers. Compared with conventional composite cables, S-video cables improve video quality by separating each color signal onto a separate pin. |

Powered speakers
Take advantage of the PlayStation 2's audio fidelity by matching it with more than your TV's built-in speakers. There are a number of affordable audio products that combine two powered satellites and a subwoofer for sharp, intense sound. |

8MB memory card
A memory card can be used with most games to save your progress or record high scores. It's possible to quickly fill up an 8MB card if you're playing a handful of games simultaneously, but saves can be deleted to make space. Note that original PlayStation games can't use a PS2 memory card--a PlayStation memory card is required.
Required: A television with S-video input.
Optional: PS2 Network Adapter and DVD remote.
