While online gaming may be the next big thing, many top PS2 games focus on a single-player experience perfectly suited to the basic $179 PS2 package. In the box, Sony includes a Dual Shock 2 controller and the basic composite video cable you need to get the PS2 connected to your TV. You'll also want a PlayStation 2 memory card, which nearly every game uses to save your progress.

8MB memory card
A memory card can be used with most games to save your progress or record high scores. It's possible to quickly fill up an 8MB card if you're playing a handful of games simultaneously, but saves can be deleted to make space. Note that original PlayStation games can't use a PS2 memory card--a PlayStation memory card is required.
