The right accessories make a good gaming experience better. Start off by hooking the GameCube up to a good TV using an S-video connector for increased image quality. You'll also want an extra controller to play multiplayer games, a memory card, and perhaps even some good powered speakers. Also, if you want to play Game Boy and GBA games on a larger screen, don't overlook the GBA Player.

Configuration

GameCube
In the GameCube box, you'll find Nintendo's distinctive controller and a standard composite video connector.

Extra controller
The GameCube controller isn't symmetrical, but it's compact and packs plenty of buttons and two analog sticks. You may also want an arcade stick if you're into fighting games.

Memory Card 251
This is the larger of the two memory card options for the GameCube. The Memory Card 59 is less expensive, but at $20, the 251's extra space may be too affordable to pass up.

GB Player
This 1-inch-thick peripheral connects to the bottom of the GameCube to let you play Game Boy, Game Boy Color, or Game Boy Advance games on a television, using either the GC controller or a GBA to control the action

S-video cable
If you have a recent television with S-video input, take advantage of the improved image quality an S-video cable offers. Compared with conventional composite cables, S-video cables improve video quality by separating each color signal onto a separate pin.

Powered speakers
Take advantage of the GameCube's great audio by matching it with more than your TV's built-in speakers. There are a number of affordable audio products that combine two powered satellites and a subwoofer for sharp, intense sound.

Optional: Modem or broadband network adapter.
