Wrestler Guide

One of the most appealing aspects of WrestleMania X8 to fans of sports entertainment is the fact that each of the characters is balanced enough to make them all enjoyable to play. Since every character has access to a wide variety of moves (and all the moves when the create-a-wrestler customization function is taken into account), they all merit some time in players' hands. Some wrestlers are easier to play with, due to the nature of their special moves, which are discussed in this section.

The Rock

The Rock is easily one of the most formidable wrestlers on the entire roster, with a full complement of four finishers, as well as versatile basic moves. His "Rock bottom" is indispensable--it's a powerful face-to-face grapple, and it drops the opponent right at your feet, ideal for a follow-up pin. The people's elbow is one of the flashiest moves in the game and not only guarantees that an opponent will stay down for a pin but also humiliates like few other moves can. The people's spinebuster is a great finisher that catches a lot of players by surprise; you can rely on it in multiplayer games when you know they're ready to counter the Rock bottom. And lastly, the sharpshooter rounds out The Rock's moves set as a solid submission move for those situations when you just can't seem to get a pin.

Stone Cold Steve Austin

The stunner will win you lots of matches.
Stone Cold has it made to X8 because of his stunner, which is extremely powerful and sets up opponents nicely for pins. He also has the cobra clutch, which can win matches where a submission is necessary. You should nail elbow drops at every opportunity and take advantage of Stone Cold's Lou Thesz press when you can to best set up a win. Enjoy the beers afterward.

Undertaker

The Undertaker has some very mean moves in WrestleMania X8, and choosing the right ones to finish off an opponent is key. For example, the tombstone pile driver and choke slam aren't finishers anymore--they're just standard grapples, so be sure to use it as soon as possible to intimidate opponents, particularly in multiplayer games. At the turnbuckle, you can also kick it old-school style with his walking-on-the-ropes maneuver, which is sure to turn heads. Be sure to also check out his back grapple finisher, the dragon sleeper. Be careful when using "the last ride," as tempting as it may be, as you may send opponents into the ropes--where a rope break will save them from a pin.
