Episode Walk-Throughs

The walk-throughs for the various stories will normally be quite brief. Because completing many levels is simply a matter of skill and not deduction, you'll be given a few tips to help you along. But worry not--a full explanation will be provided for the more involved levels.

Bianco Hills

A beautiful area composed of a modest village surrounded by green grass and rolling hills. There is a network of cables running along the tops of many poles in the area, and a large tower that's inaccessible at the beginning. The enemies here aren't overly ferocious, so take your time getting used to things and exploring this scenic area.

Episode One

he giant piranha plants don't pose too much of a challenge anyway, but at the top of a tree Mario is untouchable.
There's a giant pile of goop spouting smaller balls of goop behind the village, and there's only one man who can stop it. You can opt to explore the town a bit first or head straight for the objective. When you do find the culprit, you may want to find a good safe spot before you summon yet another piranha plant to battle. Using the same strategy you've used before, hose it down until it gives up the shine.

Episode Two
You're about to fight a boss who's a bit more difficult. Make your way to the top of the tower while dodging the artillery-style and rolling balls of paint. Try not to slip in the sludge on your way up, and fill up your tank with the sprinkler as you climb the spiraling wall of the tower.

Things could get messy if this angry plant gets the chance to cough up more goop.
You can't touch the spiky plant matter wrapped around the tower, so use your jumping and hovering skills to avoid making contact. When you reach the end of the path, continue upward by hitching a ride on a windmill blade. Approach the mobile plant to begin the fight.

This advanced piranha plant is a bit stronger than the ones you've faced so far. Its primary method of attack is to cough up a clump of enemy-filled goop. When it prepares to spit, fill the creature's mouth with as much water as you can. After it's been forced to swallow too much, it'll topple over and expose its stomach. Perform a solid hip-drop on the creature's stomach to send the water back out and damage it. Repeat two more times and then recover the shine.

Episode Three

An obstacle course awaits you, but you'll probably want to take some time to play with your new nozzle.
You'll need to find a secret entrance to an obstacle course in this story. After exiting town, turn right and look around. You should be able to see the small cave shown in the intro. You may also notice a red crate containing the rocket nozzle, although you can make it to the secret with a bit of wall-jumping and hovering.

Once you're in, simply make your way through the course (there's no time limit, so take all the time you need between jumps) and claim the shine at the end of the tunnel.

Episode Four

Each of the red coins resides in the village area. Comb the rooftops carefully to find them.
This level is a simple red-coin hunt. All the coins will be either in the village or on the village walls, so you don't need to venture too far off in your search. The rocket nozzle can be of some help but isn't at all necessary. Practice wire-walking and get your shine.

Episode Five
The sumo plant from episode two has returned, and it's sleeping after coating the village in sludge. It will be to your benefit to clean up the town, as it will be your future battlefield, but you really only need to free the local trapped under sludge near the hill, right next to a pole. Clean this guy off and then talk to him to have him fling you out of town and up the hill. Climb and jump your way up, using your trusty FLUDD to clear away any sludge you come across. When you reach the top, you'll see your enemy resting on a far-away platform.

You can awaken the sleeping giant by using this pink fellow as a projectile.
You may have noticed the pink floating enemies that bear a great resemblance to another Nintendo character, Kirby. When they near you, they'll fasten their mouths to FLUDD's nozzle. After you fill them with a bit of water, release the R button to send them flying off. In this manner, take aim and snipe the surly plant to wake him and begin the battle.

The plant will take flight. Watch it and attempt to shoot it down when it's running out of steam. When it's on the ground, avoid its new tornado attack and wait for it to open its big mouth. Use the same strategy you used last time--fill it with water and stomp on the engorged belly. After three hits, the shine is yours.

Episode Six

Steering lily pads and boats can be a challenge. If you want to complete the game and get all the shines, it's a skill you'll need to master.
Upon beginning this story, you'll notice the area has substantially changed. The huge body of clean water is now horribly polluted, and it will harm Mario if he falls in. You'll need to hop from lily pad to lily pad, using your normal nozzle's spray to propel yourself. Or, you could just spin-jump and hover from the base of the tower. When you make your way to the entrance behind the tower, you'll find the turbo nozzle for later use. Continue on to take on the next obstacle course.

This is the most difficult obstacle course to date, but the extra life is easy to get and will allow you to repeat the course as long as you can make it past the first leg. At first, you'll need to time your jumps to the flipping of the panels, although Mario's superior traction allows him to walk to the other side when one flips. Spin-jump to the cube. React to the rotations to make sure you're always walking toward the new top surface, but don't move too far too quickly. Spin-jump again when the cube stops rotating to move to the next area of the course. Run past the arrows and do your best to stay on top of the second cube. The last section is just like the first. Be patient and you'll be rewarded with a shine.

Episode Seven

When the grease is gone, you're left with a beautiful shine.
Bianco Hills begins a tradition. In the seventh episode of every area, you'll have to chase the fake Mario and spray him until he's down. This is a fairly easy chase, and it shouldn't take you long. At the beginning, and whenever the fake stops to rest, try going into first-person for some long-distance tagging. When it's over, he'll cough up a shine.

How the coins got up here, you'll never know. Be sure to adjust the camera as needed while walking wires.
Episode Eight
This episode involves another red-coin hunt, but this one takes place outside town on the high wires. Grab the rocket nozzle to make things a bit easier, and use the first-person view to hunt down every last one of the required coins.
