Medal of Honor Frontline, while certainly an action-packed game, is not necessarily a straightforward shooter. Effective strategies depend heavily on the situation at hand. In some levels, it's wise to be fast and lethal, dispatching enemies as quickly and effectively as possible. In others, you may need to move more slowly, seeking cover and sniping enemies from a distance or with a silenced weapon. Using common sense is always in your best interest. These methods will be referred to according to their title throughout the walk-through portion of this guide.

The old run and gun comes in handy when you're cornered or confident. |
This method is best used when you don't need to maintain a low profile. Move quickly and jump around frequently--doing so always makes you a harder target to track. It's a very straightforward method that's best used while in the thick of battle. As you progress through the game, you'll often find yourself facing numerous enemies. Submachine guns or automatic rifles are the best bet in these circumstances because they have a better rate of fire than pistols, in addition to more ammo. Fire rapidly into groups of enemies or lob grenades when you can, but in cases where there is only one target immediately available, fire in bursts so that you can conserve your ammunition and retain better control over your weapon. Also, skew your aim slightly upward as you fire to land torso and head shots, which can bring enemies down with one hit. It's not as strategic as other methods, but when used in the right circumstances, it can be very effective. Always keep a close eye on your health, as you will constantly be drawing fire.

Picking enemies off from a distance is the safest route. |
The selective fire method lends itself best to the slower-paced levels, in which you can make deadly use of sniper rifles and well-placed grenades. While using this approach, constantly be on the lookout for cover, as you will be moving more slowly--if you're moving at all--and are therefore a much easier target. Use your aiming option along with the left analog stick to peek out around corners and take a quick shot and then duck back under cover when you're being fired upon. The sniper rifle is a powerful tool that deals out a large amount of damage. In cases where enemies are standing guard or are unaware of your presence, aim for the head for an instant kill. If they're moving around, aim for their torso to guarantee a solid hit. More often then not, if this doesn't kill them, it will knock them over. Dispatch them with a second well-placed shot in these cases before they can get back up and start shooting again. Being familiar with the many death and injury animations can be very effective as well. When you see an enemy go down after being shot, knowing whether he will get up or not can save you many unnecessary injuries. Never take your eyes off a foe until you're sure he's dead.
In the options menu, you can change the way grenades function. The "grenade cook" option lets you hold on to a grenade while the fuse runs out. This is invaluable but also very dangerous. Prior to trying this, make sure you know how long a grenade will cook before exploding. Enemies are smart enough to kick grenades away or even pick them up and throw them right back at you. Cooking the grenade for the right amount of time prevents them from doing this and is very effective in taking out groups of enemies in one fell swoop.

Creep through quiet areas and kill quietly to avoid raising the alarm. |
Sometimes it's important to keep things quiet. In some levels, you'll find yourself disguised as a Nazi officer with the appropriate security passes. Keep the security pass selected in these cases, as brandishing a weapon will immediately spoil your disguise and bring you under attack. In the event that you're trying to move quietly while not disguised, silenced pistols and melee attacks are the best option. Sneaking up on enemies and pistol-whipping them keeps things quiet and leaves you with ammo better used elsewhere. Always peek around corners before moving on; this will save you the grief of walking into a room full of armed guards or other unsavory situations.
Enemies also try to trip alarms whenever they can. Find these alarm switches and pistol-whip or shoot them out to prevent enemies from betraying your presence. Only move on after all enemies and switches have been removed from the picture.
