Mastering the Controller

This information is available in the instruction manual, as well as on the controller options screen in the game. There are several different variations available, the best of which are the Classic MOH and MOH Sharpshooter setups, which provide the best of both worlds: ease of use and ultimate control. You may also map buttons where you see fit so that you can create your own configuration.

Veterans will be familiar with the classic layout.
"Traditional one-thumb setup for easy navigation"
  • Left analog stick: used for general movement (forward, backward, left, and right), as well as turning.
  • L3: press to center your view.
  • Right analog stick: free-look mode.
  • R3: melee attack (used in close-quarters combat, in which you can bludgeon opponents with your selected weapon).
  • D-pad left: toggle your HUD on or off.
  • D-pad up and down: tightens or widens your sniper zoom, respectively.
  • L1: strafe left.
  • L2: crouch (press once to crouch and then once more to stand back up).
  • Select: call HQ for hints on level objectives.
  • Start: pause (also used to view level objectives).
  • R1: strafe right.
  • R2: aim/look (used for a slight zoom effect, which helps in targeting opponents, as it also brings up a crosshair). If you use it in conjunction with the left analog stick, it will also let you peek around corners.
  • Triangle: press to jump.
  • Square: reload/action button (used to reload your current weapon, open doors, vehicle hoods, and assume control of mounted weapons).
  • Circle: next weapon (use this to cycle through your inventory of weapons and security passes as applicable).
  • X: press to fire your selected weapon.
