Chapter 5: Double Domination Strategies and Maps
Double domination has replaced the domination game type from the previous Unreal Tournament. Rule changes also come with the name change. Now there are only two control points on each map, and no points are awarded for simply controlling a single point. Instead, teams must strive to control both points simultaneously. Maintain control of both points for 10 seconds and you'll be awarded a point. The game then resets and begins again. This section offers some general strategies for double domination and descriptions of the double domination maps.

• Double domination is a hectic mix of offense and defense, and the control points are the most important areas of the map. It's an obvious tip but one that shouldn't be neglected: Memorize the location of each control point. Most of the maps are symmetrical. Generally, the bases are similar, but in some levels (Ruination and SepukkuGorge), the paths between the bases and the area surrounding the bases are different. Note the quickest routes between control points so you can reach either quickly and assist in offense and defense at a moment's notice.

• When the enemy team controls both points, your team has approximately 10 seconds to capture one of the control points to prevent a score. A sound strategy would be to assign particular players to a specific control point. Upon spawning after death, that player would immediately return to that control point to help defend or retake its position. This may prevent situations in which too many teammates are attempting to capture a control point defended by too many heavily armed opponents.

• Another obvious strategy: Don't neglect defense! Don't capture a control point and then leave it alone. The game moves quickly, and an undefended control point will be stolen in a matter of seconds. Defend a control point like a flag in capture the flag. Assign some team members to long-range defensive support (armed with lightning guns, rocket launchers, or shock rifles). Have other team members positioned near the control point for short-range defense.

• If you manage to grab the redeemer, save it for an opportunity to clear out control point defenders. Don't waste the redeemer on a random opponent in the middle of the map. The redeemer is a powerful tool in team games. A control point guarded by three enemies is an easy target for the redeemer.
