Area Walkthroughs and Quest Guide
Morrowind features a massive gaming world, replete with hundreds of caves, ruins, shrines, towers, shipwrecks and grottos to explore, and dozens of faction and guild quests to undertake. While Morrowind is designed to encourage freeform exploration, it's also possible to make quests unfinishable if you disregard items that you'll ultimately need or kill NPCs. This section of the guide provides:

  • solutions to all the quests in the game, other than those associated with the Main Quest and those given by the Vampire Clans,
  • an atlas of information on each of the dungeons, caves, tombs, shipwrecks, ruins, shrines and towers in the game, indicating whether the location is worthwhile exploring and whether or not you'll have to travel to that location in connection with any quests.
  • a description of each of the towns and settlements in the game, highlighting notable services that are available and any quests initiated in the area.

Locations are listed in alphabetical order below. If the game's automap treats a Daedric Shrine or Dwarven Ruin as a separate outdoor region, it'll also be treated as a separate location and given its own entry in this Area Walkthrough section. For example, although Ald Sotha is geographically within the Ascadian Isles region, since the game's automap treats Ald Sotha as discrete outdoor location, so does this guide. You'll find it much easier to navigate if you keep the automap display always onscreen, by pressing the button in the top right corner of the display, and doing so will also allow you to quickly determine which section of this guide is relevant for the area you are then exploring.

Until your character reaches experience level 20 or so, the creatures chosen by the game to stock most tombs and dungeons will generally be scaled to your experience level. As your character advances in experience level, more dangerous creatures will patrol those subterranean lairs and the wilderness. In general, any descriptions of creatures in this Area Walkthrough section will refer to the most dangerous creatures that can be found in that location.
