| Vivec (Vivec Palace Canton) | Destroy Dagoth Ur | Once you have Wraithguard, Keening and Sunder, you're ready to confront Dagoth Ur. Enter Dagoth Ur, which is naturally in the center of the Red Mountain region surrounded by the ghostfence. In order to enter Dagoth Ur, you need to move the lever near the outer doors, as you had to to access the Arkngthand ruins. Make your way to the Lower Facility, where Dagoth Ur will be waiting for you. He'll answer various questions for you, and ultimately tell you to commence your attack. Do so, and you'll find he's pretty easy to take down, but striking him down will only open the door to the next chamber. Enter that room and you'll see Dagoth Ur and his giant creation. You have to make your way to the Heart of Lorkhan, which is within Dagoth Ur's giant creation. Run around the outside perimeter of the room and Dagoth Ur will try to follow but likely fall into the lava, giving you some additional time to get positioned. Cross the bridge to the heart (or just levitate directly there) and strike it repeatedly with Sunder and Keening. You need to hit it with both weapons. Destroy the heart and Dagoth Ur will become vulnerable. Chop him up or ensure he falls in the lava where he'll rapidly die an ignomious death. Levitate away from Dagoth Ur's creation, as it'll collapse once the Heart is destroyed. Leave the room and you'll be greeted by Azura, who will congatulate you on completing the main quest |
Additional Notes:
The last Ash Vampire is also in Dagoth Ur ruin, so you might want to take him out on your way to meet Dagoth Ur. Killing Dagoth Ur is somewhat anticlimactic, since you're not given an elaborate cutscene or any significant backslapping other than from Azura. The game won't end, so you'll be free to continue exploring or completing quests for guilds and factions. In fact, there are a few additional Easter egg quests that only become available after you kill Dagoth Ur:
The Morag Tong will give you some new high-level quests to kill a few key figures in the game.
If you haven't removed Trebonius as head of the Mages Guild, he'll give you another one of his crazy quests. This time he'll require you to eliminate all of the Telvanni leaders.
You'll be free to perform all of the quests previously available other than the Vampire Clan quests, which will be unavailable since your character cannot become a vampire after being granted immunity from disease in connection with the Corprus disease cure.
