 | Not too tasty. If you increase your Alchemy skill to 15, 30, 45 and finally 60, you’ll be able to tell what effects reagents can grant. Some aren’t very healthy |
You can use your character's Alchemy skill to ingest reagents and create useful potions from materials that are generally commonly available in the game. Almost every item in the game that is not equipment, a book, coin or weaponry can be eaten. If your character's Alchemy skill is high enough, you'll be able to tell in advance what possible effects the reagent can grant. The simplest reagents, bread and small Kwama eggs, only have one possible effect, but most reagents have three or four possible effects. By ingesting a reagent, your character will experience the first effect associated with that reagent if your character successfully uses his or her Alchemy skill. Naturally, the higher your character's Alchemy skill, the more likely the character will be able to experience that effect.Additional effects associated with a reagent are only relevant for making potions. In order to make a potion, you need alchemy tools. There are four different alchemy tools: retort, mortar and pestle, calcinator, alembie. The better quality tools your character uses, the easier it will be to make useful potions. Initially, when the cursor is passed over a reagent, your character will only see question marks where a reagent's possible effects would otherwise be listed. The possible effects granted by a reagent will become visible as your character improves in Alchemy skill through practice or purchasing skill points from trainers. The different possible effects associated with reagents will be revealed when your character reaches 15, 30, 45 and 60 skill points in Alchemy.
