Super Smash Bros.
Platform: Nintendo 64
Release Date: 1999
Developer: HAL Labs
Publisher: Nintendo
Only a few months had passed before Nintendo released its next multiplayer chaos game, again based on its legendary characters. This time, though, the gameplay wasn't nearly so docile and sweet, as Super Smash Bros. brought with it an all-out war. Though it was revealed at the end that the characters weren't really hurting one another, players still enjoyed using Link's sword to slice Mario up like a pizza, using Donkey Kong's proclivity with barrels to knock Luigi to his doom, and using Pikachu to fry opponents with lightning.

Mario Golf
Platform: Nintendo 64
Release Date: 1999
Developer: Camelot Corp.
Publisher: Nintendo
Mario Golf was yet another multiplayer party game for the Nintendo 64, this time under the development of Camelot Corporation. Donkey Kong was an elusive character in this game - you had to beat 30 of 36 holes in ringshot mode before you could unlock him, but once he was enabled, you could use his awesome fade shot to trounce the rest of the Nintendo gang. Whether playing golf or straight-out brawling, Donkey Kong could whip Tiger Woods' butt, even if Tiger had his clubs, his caddy, and all of his fans. For some reason Camelot Corp. chose not to include DK in its Game Boy Color version of this game.

Mario Party 2
Platform: Nintendo 64
Release Date: 2000
Developer: Hudson
Publisher: Nintendo
The sequel to Mario Party came out less than a year after the original hit store shelves, and to even greater acclaim. The mechanics were improved, more minigames were present, and Donkey Kong still ruled the roost. Replay value was increased over the original Mario Party, with new puzzles and modes, which was pretty much the entire point of the game

Mario Tennis
Platform: Nintendo 64
Release Date: 2000
Developer: Hudson
Publisher: Nintendo
Virtually every major Nintendo character is present in this latest Hudson affair. Mario, Luigi, Peach, Baby Mario, Yoshi, Koopa Paratroopa, Donkey Kong, Wario, Waluigi, Daisy, Toad, Birdo, Bowser, and Boo are present. Even Donkey Kong Jr. can be unlocked. Rumor has it that Link didn't want to weaken his sword techniques by playing with a racket, hence his omission. Another great party game, Mario Tennis is, well, a tennis game with the Nintendo touch. While it won't give Sega's Virtua Tennis a run for its money in the graphics department, the usual chaotic play of a character-collective Nintendo game is here, and it's beloved by its fans. Donkey Kong has his own court, and those who play as the ape will find that his slow foot speed is more than made up for by his blazing serve and ground strokes. Some would argue that Donkey Kong Jr. has exceeded his father at tennis, as there are many who consider Donkey Kong Jr. to be the best character in the entire game. Either way, you're sitting pretty when you've got a Kong on your side.
