BEST GRAPHICS, TECHNICAL

Game graphics continue to improve drastically every year. As the most immediately noticeable element in any game, graphics are and always will be extremely important to players' experiences. Besides the artists who design the actual look of each game, programmers are charged with the highly competitive responsibility of creating increasingly impressive 3D graphics engines to bring their games to life. Here is the winner of the 2001 Best Graphics, Technical Award:

Dead or Alive 3

Publisher: Tecmo
Developer: Tecmo

When deciding which game made the biggest splash this year where graphics are concerned, there was a lot of heated debate. But in the end, we decided on Tecmo's Xbox brawler. Make no mistake: Dead or Alive 3 looks absolutely stunning. It's the best-looking home fighting game ever released, and it looks better than almost anything in the arcades too. While all the nominees in this category are worthy of praise, Dead or Alive 3 is well deserving of GameSpot's Best Technical Graphics Award for 2001.

Other Nominees:

Final Fantasy X
Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec
Max Payne (Xbox)
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
