Madden NFL 2001
John Madden has been synonymous with the world of video game football for a decade. Since the original John Madden Football hit the Genesis back in 1990, EA has been pumping out outstanding football games, year after year. The latest and last rendition for the PlayStation is no exception. The 2001 model is mostly the same as the 2000 release. While that may not sound too inviting initially, Madden NFL 2000 was a solid enough game to make Madden NFL 2001 equally solid, with additions like revamped kicking, updated playbooks, and little touches, such as last-minute adjustment of pass-rush routes and linebacker drops. Sure, the PS2 version may overshadow EA's last PlayStation NFL effort, but the PlayStation version is amazing on its own, and it's worthy of a spot on our best PlayStation game list.
