It always seems like some of the best games each year come out at the very end, just in time for the holidays. And just in time for the end-of-the-year awards that publications like GameSpot usually put out around that time. Unfortunately, the holiday rush sometimes means that great games that came out earlier in the year end up receiving less attention than they might deserve, and that isn't really fair. After all, it doesn't matter when a game is released--a great game is a great game, regardless of when it actually hits store shelves.
That's why GameSpot PC gives out its Game of the Month awards. In this monthly feature, we take a good hard look at all the games we've reviewed in the past month and pick what we consider to be the best of the bunch. The only thing a game needs to be in the running is to be reviewed by GameSpot sometime within the month. And although 2001 was a decent year for PC games, if you ask us, 2002 is shaping up to be a lot more exciting.
June might not have had the onrush of amazing PC games that the previous few months had, but you'll find that what it lacked in quantity, it made up for in quality. Let's take a look.
