Review Excerpt
Until recently, PC games based on superhero comic books seemed to bear some kind of curse. Every time one was announced, it sounded extremely interesting and got people excited--and then it was canceled. Irrational Games' Freedom Force is the first game to avoid the curse, and it turned out to be not only the great superhero game that everyone wanted it to be, but also an outstanding game in its own right. To say that Freedom Force has good graphics and good sound just doesn't do the game justice--its excellent, stylized graphics and dynamic musical score perfectly capture the essence of the silver age of comics. And Freedom Force is also lots of fun to play--it lets you create your own superhero from a huge list of appearances and special abilities and then lets you roam through huge 3D environments by flying, running, crawling, and climbing. Freedom Force is an outstanding PC game and has clearly earned the title of GameSpot PC's game of the month for March.
