Party Like It's On Sale for $19.99

Welcome to GameSpot's Game Collector, where we help you find the world's best games at the world's lowest prices. This week, we're proud to present 10 games that were recipients of our annual end-of-year awards two years ago, back in 1999. All these games were great for their time--but as a true testament to their superiority, amazingly enough, these games are still popular to this day. Note that while most of these are now available in refurbished "game of the year" editions, we've defaulted to pointing you to the original, less expensive versions--unless the rereleased versions offer significant benefits.

Unreal Tournament received our award for Best Action Game of 1999. It appeared almost out of nowhere to quickly become the game of choice among many, if not most, fans of first-person shooters. No surprise, since it looks, sounds, and plays great, and it offered many more modes of play than its direct competitor Quake III Arena. The recent Totally Unreal bundle includes UT as well as its great-looking predecessor.

3DO's High Heat Baseball series is still the most realistic baseball game on the market, and High Heat Baseball 2000 laid a lot of the groundwork for the series' continued success. The game did have some problems--yet no other sports game to date had simulated the great American pastime so exactingly, and with such drama and detail. That's why High Heat was the best choice for Best Sports Game of 1999.

In hindsight, the choice seems much more obvious--EverQuest is still incredibly popular and stronger and better than ever. If you've missed out on this impressive online RPG, then the recent EverQuest Trilogy package is a great way to get into it.
