The Top Game Boy Advance Games of E3 2003

The Game Boy Advance has really come into its own as a game platform. It's surpassed any reputation it might have had as a kiddie system, and the games that made our GBA top five really prove why the system is capable of supporting games that appeal to all ages and tastes.

What's Ahead:
We really don't know. Nintendo is being surprisingly quiet about the game, and since it wasn't playable on the show floor, it was difficult to get an idea of how far along the game is. In any case, it seems to be shaping up into a game that any Metroid fan will want to keep an eye out for.

Though it was only shown as a looping demo on the show floor of E3, Metroid: Zero Mission definitely looks like one of the more promising Game Boy Advance games currently in development. Judging from the demo, Metroid: Zero Mission appears to be a remake of the original Metroid for the NES, but with new features from other Metroid games. For example, Samus can grab onto ledges and hang there to shoot at nearby enemies. In addition, she'll have access to her dash, which lets her run across rooms at an incredibly high speed, and a variety of other special moves. There also appear to be a bunch of new outdoor areas and new enemies, including some incredibly large space pirates.

The graphics of the original NES game have been substantially improved. Samus looks much more like her Super Nintendo counterpart, and the backgrounds actually have more detail in them. While there really isn't much information on it, the promise of a Metroid remake with a bunch of new features sounds like a great idea to us.
