Raikoh - Otogi: Myth of Demons (XBOX)Publisher: Sega ![]() The living dead appear in games all the time, but Raikoh, the main character of Otogi, seems to be just plain dead. This resurrected swordsman, while incredibly powerful, never blinks an eye or utters a word. Talk about literally being cool--Raikoh also contributes a lot to the mystical feel of the game, and his immense strength allows him to obliterate just about anything in his path.
The Prince - Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (PC, XBOX, GC, PS2)Publisher: Ubisoft ![]() Technically, the prince has appeared in previous Prince of Persia games, though he has received a complete and total makeover for this installment. It's a toss-up as to whether the prince's awesome acrobatics or his brash yet likable demeanor contribute more to what makes him such a good character.
HK-47 - Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (PC, XBOX)Publisher: LucasArts ![]() If C-3PO were to snap one day, he might end up a lot like HK-47, the homicidal yet disturbingly polite combat droid from BioWare's excellent Star Wars RPG. We're prepared to call HK the greatest original Star Wars character in years.
Tesshu - Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven (PS2)Publisher: Activision ![]() The not-so-hidden third playable character in this ninja stealth action game deals death to his foes like no one else in gaming. He's like an ill-tempered, bloodthirsty Japanese Robin Hood--with a degree in medicine.
Viewtiful Joe - Viewtiful Joe (GC)Publisher: Capcom ![]() OK, he looks a little too much like Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst, but any guy who can look good wearing a Power Rangers rip-off outfit deserves a lot of credit in our book.
