You'd be hard pressed to find a game that comes close to touching Dead to Rights' atmosphere and cinematic approach to storytelling on the Xbox. The game serves as an excellent example of how far storytelling in video games has come. The game's gritty tale of corruption and betrayal revolves around Jack Slate, a police officer framed for murder. Slate's quest to clear his name sends him on a journey through life's dark underbelly. It all seems straightforward enough at first, but the story takes a number of surprising twists and ties up all the loose ends by the conclusion. The dark story draws more on elements from the action noir films that inspired it than other games, which gives it a distinctive feel. Mature content included in the game, which ranges from standard gunplay to exotic dancers, fits the strong narrative and completes the tight package.
