When it comes to creating an immersive soundscape for a video game, the sounds of war are usually among the most intense. To this end, Medal of Honor Frontline's incredible clarity and surround sound support are what make it stand out from the rest of the games on this year's release list.It's always satisfying when sound can heighten tension or add a level of excitement that wouldn't have been there otherwise. Frontline accomplishes this by presenting an impressive array of great sound effects that really bring home the sense of being in a full-scale battle. Story-driven games often rely on voice acting to convey their plots or other interesting points, and Medal of Honor Frontline is also notable in this regard. With a good collection of speech in several different languages, Frontline is an incredibly impressive achievement in terms of its audio. For these reasons, we were quick to award Medal of Honor Frontline with the 2002 commendation for Best Sound on PlayStation 2.
