Best Expansion Pack on PC

Retail expansion packs are a viable means for game developers and publishers to increase the longevity and improve the core qualities of their best game designs. The best of these take an already great game and manage to make it even better than before by introducing fundamentally new design elements that thoroughly improve upon the original game. Many great games receive suitably great expansion packs, but here is the greatest expansion of all this year:

Dark Age of Camelot: Shrouded Isles

Publisher: Mythic Entertainment
Developer: Mythic Entertainment

Last year's Dark Age of Camelot from online game developer Mythic Entertainment took everyone by surprise with its intriguing fantasy setting and, more importantly, its technically stable launch. Shrouded Isles expands on Dark Age of Camelot's mythical setting by adding new races and classes to the game's fantasy realms of Albion, Midgard, and Hibernia. In addition, the expansion improves the look of Dark Age of Camelot with high-resolution textures and new effects like shimmering animated water. Finally, the expansion adds plenty of new areas to each of the game's three realms--areas that both beginners and high-level veterans can explore and conquer. It all adds up to the biggest, most feature-rich expansion released this year.

Other Nominees:

Operation Flashpoint: Resistance
Medal of Honor Allied Assault: Spearhead
