Best Story on PC

Over the years, games have proven to be a viable storytelling medium, as they combine the multimedia elements and production values of movies with the length and depth of novels--and of course, they're interactive, which ideally lets you experience the story in a game as vividly as possible. GameSpot's best story award goes to the one game that's most striking because of the quality of its original story, its characters, and its storytelling techniques. Here is the winner of Best Story on PC:

Freedom Force

Publisher: Crave / EA Games
Developer: Irrational Games

The storyline of Freedom Force could have come right out of a comic book. That's because this unusual tactical game lets you command a squad of intrepid superheroes modeled after the classic American silver-age comic-book heroes of the 1960s, when brightly colored spandex tights were in and communism was out. Freedom Force's story is full of humorous asides, and the motivations for each of its characters, heroes and villains--told through comic-book-style cutscenes--are as true as they can possibly be to the game's colorful setting.

Other Nominees:

Mafia
Syberia
Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos
