Best Game No One Played on PC

The game industry is extremely competitive--sometimes it's not enough for a game to be good in order for it to be a commercial success. In spite of their great qualities--and in spite of critical acclaim--each year, certain games fail to draw the kind of public attention they seem to deserve. The cause of this can be bad marketing, bad timing, an overly ambitious design, or something else. Here is the Best Game No One Played on PC:

MoonBase Commander

Anyone who's ever complained that modern games emphasize flashy graphics over gameplay should be required to play MoonBase Commander. The game has all the fast-paced competitive thrill of a great real-time strategy game, but with timed turns and a design that's accessible for all ages. In fact, the process of efficiently assembling a moonbase section by section helps the game cross over to include plenty of puzzle appeal. MoonBase Commander is a solid, innovative, low-budget game from a big publisher, and it was sold at a suggested retail price of less than that of an average game. Unfortunately, few people took the opportunity to give this great game a try, and according to NPD, US sales through November numbered only in the thousands.

Other Nominees:

Age of Wonders II: The Wizard's Throne
Disciples II: Dark Prophecy
Divine Divinity
Syberia
