Best Classic Game Compilation

Chances are you're nostalgic for some of the old games you used to play. Recognizing this, some publishers have released compilations of yesteryear's games on current-generation platforms. It's presumably rather easy to slap together a game compilation of some sort, but certain collections really go out their way to provide a complete experience. Hence, our award for Best Classic Game Compilation:

Activision Anthology (PS2)

Publisher: Activision
Developer: Contraband Entertainment

Games may get more and more advanced with each passing day, but that doesn't stop the games of yesteryear from being great--hence the need for classic game compilations. While most of these collections are hastily put together and sometimes not as true to the originals as they should be, Activision Anthology is an incredibly concise and polished retro gaming compilation. With dozens of faithfully reproduced games, original artwork, vintage commercials, and even a licensed soundtrack that dates back to when these games were new, this virtual encyclopedia of Activision's efforts on the Atari 2600 is the standard by which all other old-school collections should be judged.

Other Nominees:

Animal Crossing (GC), for the many included NES games
Konami Collector's Series: Arcade Advanced (GBA)
Phantasy Star Collection (GBA)
Sonic Mega Collection (GC)
